New life among the retired!

Good morning bloggers,  it's a rainy day here in Plano - a little cool but definitely soggy.  Biggest news in my world is that I have finally gotten a chance to do craft shows and fair's since I no longer work in my previous job.   I left in July and have stayed busy getting ready for my first of many shows.

You don't realize how much goes into one until you start doing them every weekend.  I had done the odd one occasionally since I worked weekends, but now it's all about booking the shows and packing up to go.

I have to much to show!   An not enough room in the area assigned to put everything out.  Solution - figure out what is the big sellers to show, but keep a little something in a box if the customers ask for something specific that I know is available.  Since my shows surround clothing and accessories for children, it takes in a wide area.  My last show was themed as Halloween I added anything that worked in that area.  Better sales was the result.  Also looked at the demographics of the area to see what did sell.

What I found was amazing.  So many boys are not being marketed to.  Constant question of what do you have for little boy's.  I found that my marketing was to much on the little girls and not enough for boys.  So by adding a few items for them showed that I'm going in the right direction, just not there yet.

In my next show I'm adding some fleece blankets and padded scrap letters, so we'll see how those will do since the weather is changing.  Check back to see how they do.

where oh where have I been...

I know it's been a while but I have finally found my blog again.  For some unknown reason my blog had disappeared from my computer.  I've got it tacked in several spots now, so hopefully I can start blogging again.  I have a lot of ideas for coaching sessions, so I best get working on it.

To catch you up on what has been going on since I last posted...hey wait there's to much stuff so we'll just catch up with this year.

Hubby and I still live in Plano, still working and traveling.  Matter of fact, hubby comes home this Saturday after being gone since the last of March for work.  Work for both of us has kept us busy but durn that hubby of mine - he got me addicted to the google game "hay day", I found myself getting up in the middle of the night to harvest something that had a long creation time.  Matter fact I need to go harvest something I'm sure right now.

During the time away from Blogger I've learned how to use pinterest, working on instagram????, but still working hard in my shops - yes I said shops.  I now have 5 shops on etsy .  fairie wings grew so much (section wise) that it needed another shop for the accessories, so here comes huey g accessories, after a while saw the need for a destash site, so willie b supplies  was created.  Then last year my diy silhouette appliques took over willie b (again section wise) so I had to build the next site, red rooster supplies and for the last site I found that I wanted a shop just for t shirts/clothes.  Now I'm still working on the last 2 but at least they are active.  There are so many ideas, but not enough time in the day to complete everything. Talk about a organized chaos.

Well I'm sure you have other things to do but I'll be back soon.
take care and happy crafting,
ruth

Dogs that love the breeze...

Hey folks,

I know it's been a while since I've visited with you but you know how it is when life doesn't seem to give you enough hours in the day.

Today I want to talk about man's best friend and why they love to stick their heads out the window to feel the breeze. Hope you know because I haven't the faintest idea why. I'm sure there is a scientific reason but just let it be known that the dog of our lives revels in that breeze.

On my way to work the other day I saw this little car coming toward me and realized that the driver must have left something on the roof. The closer I got the more that I saw the object move back and forth and thought to myself , "let me pull into the other lane until they pass or I'm going tp get smacked in the windshield with what ever it is". Just as the car got even with me to my amazement her was a hugh long haired dog setting in the back seat with his head resting on the roof and his ears and hair was flapping in the breeze. I couldn't stop laughing at the sight. This dog looked like "don't stop, don't stop...", the expression was priceless.

Have you ever wondered what a dog is thinking when their heads are soaking up the breeze?
What do you think...

Now that the rush is over...

what are you doing for yourself?
Yes, I said what are you doing for YOU? It's not being selfish to say I
need some "me time". You've done for everyone else in your life but so far you've
just ignored #1.
Go out for coffee, stand in the snow or howl at the moon. Take 15 minutes to do nothing but commune
with yourself at least once a day. Then put your game face on and get back to life.
It's the biggest gift to yourself that will keep you sane.

life and times of a fabricholic...

I confess...

I'm a fabricholic...

is there a FA meeting that I can attend.

HI, MY NAME IS RUTH

AND I'M A FABRICHOLIC...

I was supposed to go to the store for 2 or 3 pieces of fabric to fill an order, 4 hours and 3 bags later I'm hiding them from myself so I don't know what was purchased. OK, so the store was busy and I had to wait to have my fabric cut...but that was 3 different times. Then had to wait in line to check out.

But everything was on sale and I had a 40% off coupon is my excuse. I've been so good and have not gone nuts buying fabric lately because I don't have anymore room to store it. You know what this means, back to the sewing machine I go.

What gets you into trouble?

Hope ya'll are having a great weekend... the weather is beautiful after so much rain. Talk to you soon.

Look who we found last week when I was back home in Alabama. Meet "FOO", the one on the left that is, the big bird on the right is my hubby Scott. Foo is part of the flock that lives at my brothers home, and I do mean a flock. My brother and his wife run a bird rescue and santuary

gearing up for Christmas...

Can you believe it. We're already thinking about the Christmas season. In our shops, family and those many "things to do list" that we all have. Given that we all get so busy, I just wanted to say it....

Happy Halloween

Have a great Thanksgiving

And Merry Christmas

I know I've missed a lot of other hoildays in there but let me say also...

Happy Thanksgiving to our friends to the North

Happy Hanukkah

And a Happy Kwanzaa

that being said I thought I would give you some tips to make the most out of your busy season.

1. Don't take yourself so seriously

2. Get over your anger and frustration by eating some chocolate.

3. Give your friends some of that same chocolate-add a note about something funny.

4. Set some limits to how much frustration you will take daily---30 minutes to 1 hour is good, then go have some chocolate.

Are we seeing a theme here. Chocolate, the 5th food group. As I was posting some holiday pieces to etsy I was searching for some because I was having a lot of trouble with my computer last night. Didn't find any (so you know what is on the top of my grocery list) that I really wanted to eat, only found some stale cookies that HAD to share with hubby.
What are some of your tips to get through the holidays? I'd love to hear them.
Sorry for being offline this week, talk to you soon.
